6th Annual Virginia Farmers Market Association Conference was held in Richmond, Va on November 1st and 2nd at the Virginia Farm Bureau Headquarters.  It was hosted by the Capital Area Farmers Market Association.

Dr. Kim Hutchinson is the new Executive Director Influential Leaders Panel.

Assistant Secretary of Agriculture, Heidi Hertz
Mayor of Richmond, Levar Stoney
Federation of Virginia Food Banks, Eddie Oliver
Goochland County Administrator, John Budesky

They each discussed how Farmers Markets have impacted Virginia and in their specific line of work. (food banks, etc.)

Discussions on why metrics are important and how it is used to reach influencers, cultivating community through programs and events, using technology to increase vendor sales. There were several different innovators high lighting their specific areas, such as shared use kitchens, programs designed to run the farmers markets, online recipe sharing for products purchased at the Farmers Market.

Karen Cobb, Market Manager & Ann Ferguson attended the event. They said it was a "great event and they are hoping to implement some of the tools presented and it looks like the future is bright!"
