For Immediate Release: Franklin Community Christmas Parade
December 6th at 7:00 p.m. the City of Franklin will light up the night!

The City of Franklin Christmas Parade will again be held at night and is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 at 7 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade is “Best Christmas Tree Ever” and participants will lineup beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The parade is sponsored in part by various individuals, volunteers and community organizations including Citizen Chairperson Dr. Linwood Johnson; Volunteer Extraordinaire Russell Jackson; City of Franklin; Downtown Franklin Association; The Rotary Club of Franklin; The Franklin Lion’s Club; Franklin Star Lodge 288; Franklin Sportsman Association; Kiwanis Club of Franklin; Franklin Shrine Club; Franklin Tri-County Alumnae Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.; Antioch Franklin/Southampton Order of Eastern Star Chapter 72 and others.

The committee has extended the registration until Friday, Nov. 22 and is asking for a $10 entry fee to offset costs. The charge will be $25 for late entries, which will be accepted until Dec. 2. Registration forms are available online at www.downtownfranklinva.org or at the Downtown Franklin Association office, 120 S. Main Street.

Parking for the handicapped and elderly will be provided at the Farmer’s Market parking lot on Main Street. (There will be no parking along Main Street after 5 p.m. on the day of the parade.)

In conjunction with the parade theme, downtown businesses will be decorating windows and storefronts in the theme “Best Christmas Tree Ever”.

The Elf Parade and Community Tree Lighting, sponsored by the Downtown Franklin Association, will be held Thursday, Dec. 5th at 5:30 p.m. Participants are asked to assemble in the parking lot in front of the Train Depot/Visitor’s Center at 120 S. Main Street to receive your “elf hat” and walk with Santa and his elves to Barrett’s Landing for refreshments and lighting of the community Christmas Tree.
