Franklin's very own Farmers' Market will be re-opening Saturday, May 18th at 9am. Located at 210 S. Main St. next to the Train Depot/Visitor's Center, the Farmers' Market Pavilion is conveniently nestled in the heart of Downtown within walking distance of local shops and restaurants. There will be a variety of fresh food, baked goods, and crafts for sale, all produced or grown right here in Western Tidewater.
The Farmers' Market is co-sponsored by the City of Franklin and the Downtown Franklin Association with three goals in mind: to provide a venue for area producers to sell healthy, locally grown and locally made goods directly to the public; to stimulate the local farm economy while preserving agricultural land; and to create an attractive and educational atmosphere promoting agritourism and trade with local merchants.
The market will be open six days a week, rain or shine. Prime season market days are Saturday and Thursday from 9am-1pm, and Monday through Friday from 9am-2pm until the last Saturday in October. Off-season market hours will be held on Saturdays only from November 9th until February 22cnd, 2014, 9am-2pm. Because the Market is a family-friendly venue, no pets are allowed. For more information about the Farmers' Market or to become a vendor, feel free to contact Jeff or Kathy Brown, Market Managers, at 757-562-4285 or send an e-mail to k8tybe@hughes.net.
