Tidewater News Article:
Annual Eggstravaganza Held at Barrett’s Landing
The grassy area surrounding Barrett’s Landing gazebo was hopping with activity Saturday morning as the Downtown Franklin Association held their annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Franklin High Schools DECA club members were on hand to help the Easter Bunny “hide” the eggs. The grass was literally covered with the colorful eggs. The area was divided up into three separate age groupings.
A special thank you goes out to the DFA office staff for helping the Easter Bunny stuff the eggs with candies and goodies. Also, special appreciation to the Franklin Dairy Queen for providing ice cream coupons in many of the eggs.
As the clock struck 11:00 AM, the youngest group of children (age 2 to 4) were given the go-ahead to begin the search for the coveted candy. They were followed by the 5 to 7 year olds, and lastly the 8 to 10 year olds. Each time the signal was sounded to start, chaos ensued.
Special guest of honor at the event was the Easter Bunny. When he arrived, he was welcomed by his many friends.
Downtown Franklin board members on hand for the festivities were Cheryl Stepp, Anne Williams, Kathy Worrell, Juanita Richards, Tim Bradshaw and Patti Rabil.
By 11:15 AM, the mad dash for eggs gave way to posing for keepsake photos with the Easter Bunny.
Dan Howe, Franklin Main Street Manager, expressed his thanks to all who helped make the event possible, particularly Tim Bradshaw (as the EB) and the DECA students.
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is one of the many family activities hosted by the Downtown Franklin Association.
