The renovation of the Blackwater Boat Landing at Barrett's Landing began on Monday, August 8, 2016 and includes replacing the wood on the piers and boat ramp with composite material, making it more durable. The boardwalk and surrounding areas will also be re-landscaped and the retainer railings on the boardwalk area will be freshly painted.
City employees, representatives from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, and volunteers with the Lowe’s Hero Project are to thank for the hard work going into this renovation.
The Downtown Franklin Association sponsored this renovation by providing bathrooms at Barrett’s Landing, along with ice, coolers, and bottled waters. Fred's Restaurant in Downtown Franklin, along with Chick-Fil-A, provided the food for the workers and volunteers.
