Adopt-A-Planter
Adopt-A-Planter
The Downtown Franklin Association (DFA) would like the help of business owners, employees and citizens to spruce up the City-provided planters scattered about Main Street and the Historic District. These large planters currently contain crepe myrtles - but we would like to add flowers and greenery to improve the appearance of our streets.

Franklin loves its flowers and plants. The colors and beauty add so much to our scenery. So, we are asking for businesses, employees, property owners or individual citizens to adopt one planter, add flowers and greens, and maintain them. Watering will be most crucial. Some of the crepe myrtles are looking a little sad. They need trimming and love. If you would like to help with this project, go to www.downtownfranklinva.org for a list of available locations. Then, contact Gayle Schmitz (Franklin Art & Frameworks) at 516-2660 or Juanita Richards (Richwood Graphics) at 562-3299 to confirm your participation. Hard-copies of the planter locations are also available from them.

This is a beautiful time of year in Franklin. Let’s bring some of Mother Nature’s best to the Downtown area. Planters will be marked with the name of the adoptive sponsor or individual to acknowledge their support and effort. We don’t expect a lifetime commitment! If you find that your thumb is not green, or your schedule is too busy, just call and we will foster your plantings until re-adoption.

This is meant to be a year-round project. The pansies placed in these planters by Jim & Bambi Councill last fall survived through our winter snows. Local nurseries can help you make choices. We hope that you will make the choice to help out and beautify our Downtown.
