2009 Christmas Pargade Important Rules
2009 Franklin Community Christmas Parade
IMPORTANT RULES THAT EVERY ENTRY NEEDS TO BE KNOW
& WHY WE ESTABLISHED THEM
- No burning of rubber tires on motorcycles, three-wheelers, ATVs, etc. No donuts or revving up in the middle of the street. Hot rubber pieces on small children do not mix well!
- All animal entries (horse, mini ponies, etc) MUST have cleaners/pooper scoopers or bags on their animals. Animal entries must clean up their mess as they go or keep it from falling in the street. This is not only a courtesy to the other entries that would be walking in it, but also a responsibility to make sure it is cleaned.
- No candy is to be thrown or handed out period. The rules from the Franklin Police department are not flexible. This is a safety issue so that small children will not run out near the cars, etc to pick it up and to promote healthier choices.
- Entries cannot display anything obscene or play obscene music. This is a family event with children attending. Anything deemed obscene – music, decorations, attire, literature, or participants displaying obscene gestures – will be removed from the parade.
- No literature is to be passed out. The parade is not a political, religious or moral platform. Literature, including flyers and pamphlets, also create a huge trash problem that the city has to clean up from the streets.
- Santa is only in the parade once – on the fire truck or other type of float at the end. Having multiple Santa Clauses would confuse a small child, especially to see him thirty times or side by side on back to back floats.
- Entries cannot stop and perform along the route. The bands may stop and perform for the judges only (they will be been given a three minute time limit), but may not stop along the route. This creates large gaps in the flow of the parade and takes a longer time to complete. Entries may be paused briefly at the judges’ stand for review by judges.
- During line-up, please respect the residents and do not run and play in the yards of the homes in front of your entries. Stay on sidewalks or roads or at your entry. Residents have had fences broken by people sitting on them in the past and other items damaged in their yards.
- Please share these rules with anyone from your organization that will be participating in the parade. Make sure that all adults participating, and parents of any children, know the rules in advance.
